Nintendo System Exclusives

Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom:

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the sequel to Breath of the Wild. As of June of 2022 Breath of the Wild was the 4th best selling game on the 5th best selling console of all time, and the Switch is still selling massively with over a million sales in December 2021. The trailers show access to the new realm of the skies and potentially under the ground of Hyrule. New ancient tech surrounds Hyrule and our protagonist Link seems to have acquired a new mechanical arm and the Master Sword is slowly degrading. On top of this the few trailers we have seem to be hinting at the long awaited return of the series trademark villain, Ganondorf, King of the Gerudo. The game has a release date set for May 12th 2023.

Coming hot off the tail of Pokemon Legends: Arceus Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were announced during a special presentation on the franchise’s 26th birthday. The famous trio of starter pokémon have also been revealed with the grass cat pokémon Sprigatito, the fire croc pokémon Fuecoco, and the water duckling pokémon Quaxly. Although not confirmed, many fans have begun speculating that the region, named Paldea, is inspired by the Iberian Peninsula, consisting of the nations of Spain and Portugal. In a change most players will enjoy, the games have been confirmed to be open world by the Pokemon Press “Trainers can explore an open world where various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness.” An exciting new shakeup for the series Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are set to be released November 18, 2022.

Xbox Exclusives:

Scorn

Scorn is a survival horror game that was originally announced all the way back in 2014 by Serbian developer Ebb Software but a series of financial bumps and art design struggles put the game back quite significantly. With project lead Ljubomir Peklar and artist Filip Acovic inspired by Swiss artist H. R. Giger the game takes place in a flesh inlaid dystopian city described as “biomechanical”. The creatures who inhabit the city are similarly grotesque with wispy blood red hairs and thin veiny white skin. Even the player isn’t exempt from this design. From the first person view the player must explore the city while protecting themselves from the inhuman inhabitants. The guns wielded to protect yourself are fleshy and distorted and the body you control is visceral. Console-wise Scorn will be released exclusively on the Xbox series X, but on PC it will be available on Steam, GOG, and the Windows Store. Scorn will cost anywhere from $35.99 to $39.99 and release on October 21, 2022 but will also be available on Xbox Game Pass for $9.99.

Starfield:

Set in 2330 the player takes control of the newest recruit to the corporation Constellation in its goal to discover all there is in the Milky Way. As the player explores the Settled Systems they must avoid mercenaries and pirates and dangerous alien creatures with the help of Vasco, a robot companion. Starfield will release on Xbox series X and S alongside a PC release on Steam for an unconfirmed price on November 11, 2022.
