Welcome to the first issue of Verbatim for the 2022-2023 school year. This year, we have many new staff writers, meaning the scope of our stories will be even broader than years before. Our restaurant and pop culture reviews are covering all bases, as we are reviewing a local favorite breakfast spot, as well as an international event that draws millions of viewers each year: the MTV Video Music Awards. Our Senior Snapshot stories will host the unique perspectives of the Class of 2023, starting off with Lifer Rayaan Sattar. And on the topic of perspective, our beloved Dear Susie advice column has changed identities—can you guess who it is?! Finally, the cherry on top of our September Edition is a deep dive into the lunch program with new head chef David Holland. From grilled cheese and tomato soup Wednesdays to the smiles across the kitchen staff’s faces as they serve our delicious favorites, we are blessed to have such an incredible lunch program.
