October Letter from the Editor
More podcasts!
Fall is in full swing, and that means the first quarter of this school year is in the books! Fall sports and activities are concluding and students are busy discovering new academic interests and passions.
This month’s Edition of Verbatim has many recurring articles, as well as new stories that the staff cannot wait to share.
Our classic advice column, Dear Susie, is for all students who may be feeling overwhelmed or stressed out. While the middle of the semester is a time of excitement and change, it’s also when students may feel burnt out or tired. As Susie says, it’s important to keep working hard and set goals, as the semester will be over in the blink of an eye!
I would like to highlight is this month’s Feature Story, as it is one of my favorite stories Verbatim has produced. Readers who enjoyed the September Edition’s story about school lunch may like this month’s feature story about farm-to-table food sourcing! At the beginning of the month, members of the Verbatim Staff travelled to Perennial Homestead, a small, family run business located in the Ponca Hills area of Omaha. At the farm, the Verbatim staff went on a guided tour of the farm, and then got to purchase farm fresh items from Perennial Homestead’s Farm Stand. The stand had everything from unique salts, to honey, and even caramels—all small farm sourced, homemade, and fresh. During the harvest season, the farm also grows and sells onions, eggplants, and other produce. Check out the story in this Edition—and support this small business!
Finally, the cherry on top of this edition is Angel and Angela’s “Pumpkin Food Review.” These two staff members are getting in the fall spirit and taste testing everything pumpkin. Check out this story, and maybe you’ll discover one of your favorite fall treats!
We also cannot wait for readers to listen to our podcasts! Multiple podcasts are recorded and released each month, covering a variety of topics that appeal to everyone. Whether you’re commuting to school or going on a walk, listening to the podcasts will provide you with up to date and interesting information that you won’t want to miss.
