October Community Voices – Favorite BT Traditions

In the September Edition of Verbatim, four new members of the BT Community were featured. Part of the beauty of the BT is the diversity in the amount of time students and teachers have been on campus. This month, we spoke with four members of the BT Community who have spent much of their lives as part of the campus (as “lifers” and as long-tenured faculty) about their favorite traditions at the school.

“My favorite tradition of BT is probably the little kids’ Halloween parade. When I was younger I loved walking in it with my friends and now I love going to it to see all the little kids dressed up and to take photos for the yearbook.”

-Amelia Bell, ’25

“My favorite BT Tradition is the Homecoming Pep Rally. I love the energy and games!”

-Rayaan Sattar, ’23

“While House activities are fairly new traditions, I really enjoy building House floats and the Lip Sync competitions!”

-Mrs. Rise, HOUSE Dean and Math Teacher

“My favorite tradition at BT is how Prom is done with a nice sit-down dinner with junior/seniors and their parents + the reading of the poems from the senior class to the junior class.  I think it is a nice transitional moment of the seniors ending their time at BT and the juniors stepping up to pick up the mantle of leadership.”

-Mark Smith, History Teacher, Tennis Coach, and Junior Class Sponsor
