What Would You Do With an Extra Hour? Nov/Dec Community Voices

The end of the semester is approaching, meaning last minute assignments are due and final assessments are here. This time comes with a lot of joy—the holidays, first snowfall, and more time for family and friends—but also less desirable emotions due to stressful, final tasks. Many people wish they had more time to complete their daily responsibilities and enjoy life, which begs an important question: “If you had 25 hours in a day, what would you do with that extra hour?” Here is what 4 members of the BT community had to say when asked this question:

I would catch up with my friends or hang out with my family. With all the sports and activities I’m in, I never realized how much time with friends and family I miss out on. When I’m with them, it makes me feel relaxed and happy.”

-Abbi Gibbs, ’26

“I would like to imagine that Iwould do something productive. I would hopefully do homework or learn something new. Realistically, I would just go on my phone and watch Tik Tok.”

-Matt Schinzel ’24

“Honestly, I’d probably sleep! I would also love more time to spend with my family and soak up every minute I can of my daughter’s toddler years.”

-Jamie Beaner, School Counselor and Butterfield HOUSE Dean

If I had an extra hour I would dedicate it to myself. As you grow up you find that the choices you make the things you do are often for others. When you become a mom, teach, coach chives tendto ensure everyone else is taken care of, which is an amazing feeling. I wouldn’t change it for the world. But sometimes, you wish you had more time to do the things that you enjoy. I would ensure I could do kickboxing daily, or crafting, decorating or improving my home. All of these things also bring me joy and having another hour would allow me to feel that joy more often!”
