November/December Letter from the Editor

Over the past 5 months, the Verbatim staff has released multiple Editions filled with stories about everything from food, to Brownell Talbot’s Senior class—including their many pets—and even controversies that have taken the spotlight in theater. While I have enjoyed crafting stories alongside my fellow staff members in class, the highlight of this Semester has been the real-life experiences staff writers have received.

In October, Journalism students ventured to Perennial Homestead, a family-run homestead and farm store in Ponca Hills (north of Omaha, Nebraska). In addition to touring the homestead, BT students were given the opportunity to purchase farm-grown goods and other delicacies from small businesses. After returning to BT with handfuls of honey, apples, salts, and more, writers sat down to craft a story about farm-to-table production. We hope you enjoy our many food-related articles, and even consider supporting small businesses and ethical farming such as the production at The Perennial Homestead!

Another fast-growing aspect of Verbatim I couldn’t be more excited about is our podcasts. Whether you want to listen to a podcast about holiday foods to put the cherry on top of the other food-related articles we’ve published, or simply want to stay up to date on all things sports, our many podcasts will pique your interest—guaranteed.

Looking toward, Verbatim’s staff cannot wait for the new year and all of the many amazing articles and podcasts it holds. If you’re interested in joining our staff or featuring in one of Verbatim’s stories or podcasts, reach out to us or sign up for Journalism!
