Dundee: A Photo Essay

Taking a closer look at our neighborhood, some places known to all, and other places less traveled.

Dundee is one of the great staples of Omaha. Its food, culture, shops, and parades make it one of Omaha’s most historic and lively neighborhoods. I have always lived in Dundee. When I was younger, my brother and I would run down to the Sunks to sled, go to Memorial Park to play, or beg my mom to take us to eCreamery. I went to Dundee Elementary and had a group of friends that I would meet on the corner of 51st and Webster and walk to school with everyday. When I moved to Brownell Talbot I started walking right through the heart of Dundee to get to school. I didn’t always realize the beauty of the historic neighborhood when I was younger, but I’m learning that there aren’t very many places as homey as a little historic neighborhood in Nebraska. Dundee is so special to me because of all of the memories I have made here.

This photo essay is an introduction to a new series I will be publishing on Verbatim in which I photograph and review my favorite restaurants and cafés in Dundee. Some notable features will include Jaipur, Blue Line, Lola’s Cafe, and many more.  I am so excited to start this series to give you a “taste” of Dundee cuisine.
