The holiday season is truly the most magical time of the year. As the winter chill sets in and sparkling lights dazzle the streets, the scent of peppermint fills the air and everyone starts to dress in a hefty number of layers. It’s finally time to pull out the Christmas music and cozy up to the Christmas movie classics such as Polar Express. During the holiday break, we hope the December issue of Verbatim passes up time as you read through our stories, cozied up with a warm blanket and a cup of hot cocoa next to your pets.
The season of Christmas is a well-loved holiday all around the world; however, the origins of the holiday and its relations to gift giving are not as well-known. Our feature story touches on these topics and includes data collected on the BT community on the most asked items, along with the portrayal of gifts in the media and mass marketing. In the past couple of decades, there’s been a drastic change in the value and meaning of gifts, and this article brings attention to the pertaining issue.
This publication may especially interest you if you’re inclined to try new foods this holiday break. There are two food reviews: one reviewing homemade sushi and the other deciding what the best holiday cookies may be. As you’re trying these wonderful treats, you can read all about Mariah Carey’s fame as a music artist and her growing fanbase. There are also many interesting stories commenting on a variety of topics such as the volleyball pickups at Papio South, a New Zealand bird contest, a camera informative, and a review over what crystal magic could do to benefit your lifestyle (or not).
In the fall semester, the Verbatim team wrote many stories, ranging from educational articles to fun-filled podcasts. Each member of the team took up stories that interested them, highlighting different aspects of the world and presenting them to our readers. We’ve introduced a new podcast known as Sound Clash, and our previous podcasts, such as the Raider Review and Making Sense with Mr. Smith, have grown to be more engaging and creative than ever before. In the December issue we are bringing back Dear Susie, a beloved advice column that was enjoyed in the past few years. Our four categories of each Verbatim issue continue to be filled with creative and diligent stories, reflecting our team’s interests and innovative mindsets.
We wish you a joyous holiday season filled with warmth, laughter, and the pleasure of discovering new opportunities. From our team to the readers, thank you for being a part of the Verbatim journey. We hope you enjoy this final issue of 2023 and cannot wait to continue Verbatim in 2024. Until next year, happy reading and happy holidays!
