Restaurant Review: A Brunch at Bravo!

Restaurant Review: A Brunch at Bravo!

Bravo!, located in Village Pointe, is an Italian restaurant that is known for being a nice, family friendly restaurant. Their restaurant offers a variety of cuisine. For many, Bravo! is considered a lovely restaurant that they frequently visit; for our review we selected three dishes to review and offer our own opinion.

To begin, the ambiance of the restaurant felt tacky and Americanized, largely lacking the traditional look of an Italian restaurant. We appreciated the spaciousness of the restaurant; however, the lighting surrounding it gave a dull appeal. The Italian music was fitting but when juxtaposed with the mundane arrangements of the restaurant did not do enough to negate the overall underwhelming feel of the establishment.

Our reviewers ordered and rated three popular dishes at Bravo! We ordered the  Chicken Caprese, a traditional pasta dish comprised of chicken, spinach, tomatoes, zucchini, mozzarella, orzo, farro, pesto vinaigrette, and a simple balsamic glaze. The flavor of the dish was balanced and vibrant, which made it our favorite dish out of the three we sampled. Our second dish was a classic: Pasta Bravo, which included grilled chicken, rigatoni, mushrooms, and a tasteful roasted red pepper cream sauce. This dish was lacking in flavor and was very uninteresting in the texture, as the noodles did little to add distinctive character to the other ingredients.

Lastly, we ordered the creamy Fettuccine Alfredo which contained fresh fettuccine, parmesan & a delightful house-made alfredo sauce. The shrimp felt fresh and were the most delicious part of the dish, however, the alfredo sauce was viscous and lacked the true creaminess of an authentic Italian alfredo sauce.

Bravo’s customer service was overall very pleasant. We were seated immediately when told of our reservation, and our server rapidly dished the bread. Unfortunately we received no dipping oil, which has been a favorite part of the Bravo! experience in the past.  The three of us ordered water and were offered refills at regular intervals. Our server was polite and checked on us often to ensure our satisfaction with both the food and our enjoyment. Although we enjoyed dining at Bravo, our patience began to run thin after the realization our food would arrive 30 minutes after we ordered it. This was a particular complaint that we did not expect to make; this circumstance was disappointing considering it may impede plans made for after dinner. However, our server did apologize and we were able to use ApplePay to speed up the end of the meal.

While this might not be the best choice for diners looking for an exceptional Italian meal, the location and size of Bravo! make it a reliable choice for those living in west Omaha when dining out.
