Video Recipe: Chocolate Lava Cakes

Try out this Valentine’s Day treat!

The name might sound intimidating, but as our video shows, putting together these delicious deserts is actually a lot of fun and not as challenging as other, more traditional Valentine’s Day delicacies.

Ingredients:

  • 1 stick (4 ounces) unsalted butter, plus more for greasing the ramekin
  • 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting the ramekins

Directions:

  • gather the ingredients
  • preheat oven to 450°F. Butter and lightly flour ramekins
  • melt butter with chocolate over a stove on low heat
  • In a separate bowl, mix eggs, egg yolks, sugar, and salt until thickened and pale
  • whisk the chocolate until smooth
  • combine the chocolate and egg mixtures
  • spoon batter into ramekins and bake for 12 minutes, or until sides of the cake are firm but centers are soft
  • let cakes cool in ramekins for 1 minute then put a plate on them, carefully turn each cake over, let it sit for 10 seconds, and start to unmold
  • Optional: add vanilla ice cream on the side
  • Enjoy!
