As a new year rolls around, the Verbatim team is excited for another great year of publishing. With a number of both new and returning members, the scope of our stories is broader and more defined.
The phone policy has been all the buzz at the start of the year, with students leaning on both sides of the scale: enjoying the minimal distractions or craving to have their phones back. Senior Katie Picard explores the evidence and supporting data for the new policy, while also including some student opinions and insights.
September’s editions highlight two members of the Class of ‘25: Katie Picard and Liam Garrigan. They share a reflection of their time at BT and their journey through high school, ending with their advice for underclassmen. September’s Community Voices focuses on mental health, addressing students’ sources of stress and how to overcome it.
This edition also has a few opinion-based pieces. Junior Corinne VanWinkle addresses guns and school shootings, looking into the history of guns and their past uses. Senior Fruzsina Roka will cover a pressing topic at the moment: the election. Going into debates, the current status, and more, this story is a great way to become more knowledgeable on everything going on.
A new podcast, Crafting Culture, is an exciting one to appreciate the school’s diversity. It is a collaboration between sophomore Meelah Hasse and junior Violet Vacanti. A new series this year is Revered Raiders, a BT alumni interview story. Freshman Reeeya Chundury interviewed Jordan Proby, a member of BT’s class of 2015. He reflects on how BT has impacted his life and what he’s been up to recently in life.
Juniors Teagan McCallister and Taylor Rewczuk have written a story recapping New York City Fashion Week, exploring different brands and how they showcased their clothes in unique ways. This edition also includes a restaurant review on the Heart of Asian Cuisines in downtown Omaha.
A number of podcasts are returning from last year, including Raider Rush, Angelic Analysis, Making Sense with Mr. Smith, and Sound Clash.
This year, Verbatim is committed to expanding our platform and creating compelling content. Whether you’re looking to stay updated on BT events, current news, or restaurants and movies, Verbatim is the perfect place to do so.
