With the hype surrounding McDonald’s newest menu item, we decided to put the Chicken Big Mac to the test. Olivia, familiar with the classic Big Mac, brought her seasoned perspective, while Angel, due to religious dietary restrictions, offered a fresh take, having never tried the original. Together, we explored the sandwich’s flavors, textures, and overall appeal. Our trip to McDonald’s started with a bit of chaos—Angel accidentally drove onto the sidewalk, missing the entrance to the parking lot. Despite the bumpy start, we made it there eventually. The Chicken Big Mac came with two crispy chicken patties, three buns, two slices of cheddar cheese, pickles, lettuce, and McDonald’s signature Big Mac sauce. The sandwich was enormous and messy, making it challenging to eat without it falling apart. The original Big Mac sauce adds a rich flavor, perfectly complementing the crispy chicken, which had a familiar taste, similar to McDonald’s chicken nuggets. It felt and tasted more like a larger chicken nugget rather than a McChicken patty. Although the lettuce spilled out with each bite, the sandwich was still enjoyable. However, Olivia noted, “Definitely not a date food—very messy.” Angel added, “It made my stomach hurt afterward, and ended up throwing it up.” For dessert, we tried McDonald’s seasonal apple pie. Toasted to perfection, the pie was warm and filled with a gooey apple filling packed with apple chunks. In contrast to the Chicken Big Mac, the apple pie was small, about 4.5 inches long. While we both admitted we probably wouldn’t get it again, we thought of it as a cozy, fall-inspired treat perfect for the season. All in all, we would conclude that the chicken big mac is a 6.4/10. Making it 64% worth the hype!
