Verbatim is back this month yet again with a variety of stories, podcasts, and interviews to share the spirit of BT. To celebrate the spooky season, the feature story delves into the history of pumpkins and includes an interview with Brownell Talbot’s Early Years teacher, Ms. Gibbins. Adding to the theme of Halloween, there’s a story covering different trends in Halloween costumes, as well as a commentary on “How old is too old to trick or treat?”
In the realm of commentary, Corinne’s Controversies continues this month by discussing labor unions. As the election nears, the anticipation for a new candidate arises and Corinne plans to analyze these events. Junior Hayden Steffens has an interview styled story on mental health.
For seniors, October has been a busy month full of college applications, the end of fall sports, and more. This month’s Senior Wisdom highlights four seniors’ favorite foods and drinks for completing deadlines. October’s Senior Snapshot is a double feature on Sophia Schlueter and Angelina McLellan, exploring their friendship throughout the years.
Along with photography, sophomore Cameron Vakili shares an exquisite photo essay of the Grand Canyon State, Arizona as it showcases ponds, lakes, sky shots, and Metallica’s World Tour.
In keeping with this art form, junior TG Su, displays her drawing portfolio for this month’s publication. Using highlighter and pen, she expresses terror and fear in honor of the spooky season.
The October publication also has several returning podcasts. Raider Rush covers girls golf, the Angelic Analysis has a candy bar panel, and the Making Sense with Mr. Smith podcast discusses Israel and Iran. The Sound Clash for this month’s 11th episode features Mr. Slocombe and presents unique takes on the spooky season and presents some of the heaviest metal songs whereas the Culture Club Podcast brings in sophomores Jimmy Chen and Nick Zhao to discuss Chinese culture and the culture shocks when coming to America. Also debuting is a new podcast called Lattes & Lessons where juniors Angel Bhandari, Olivia Grogan, and Christine Aspen drive with College Counselor Mr. Slocombe as he shares college advice.
Shifting from the podcasts and towards the realm of foods and fun, Juniors Angel Bhandari and Olivia Grogan review McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac this month.
Overall, October brought a wide scope of stories for this month’s publication, leaving our writers more excited than ever to share their stories and highlights of this spooky season. Enjoy!
