The chill of November has settled over Brownell Talbot students. The days feel shorter, the nights colder, and a certain heaviness lingers in the air. But even as the gloom of early sunsets creeps in, Verbatim members have been working hard at yet another publication. This month’s publication is buzzing with debates, creative sparks, and moments of gratitude. From election discussions to milkshake reviews, every corner of the campus had something to say.
Election night was an unforgettable one this year. People around America huddled around their TVs and kept refreshing live updates. Our feature story dives deep into the conversations surrounding the election, highlighting the key takeaways and what they mean for us as students. The Making Sense with Mr. Smith podcast also discusses the election, focusing on the economy and the future.
Freddy’s fall menu had many fall-flavored shakes, leading juniors Angel and Olivia to review them. This month’s fashion article covers fall fashion, whether it’s cozy flannels or sleek boots. Junior TG took their admiration for the fall musical Hadestown to paper, crafting intricate drawings that capture the heart of the musical. If you’re looking for tunes, senior Hutch and Verbatim advisor Dr. Low reviewed a phony album cover of the junior and senior class after their volunteer trip to the Hitchcock Nature Center.
The dress code has been a big topic at BT. Corinne’s Controversies explores whether the rules are outdated or just misunderstood. Dear Susie, written by an anonymous staff of Verbatim, answered a question about how early is too early to start listening to Christmas music after Halloween. In the spirit of the season, sophomore Madison created a story reminding readers of all of the little joys of life and the importance of being grateful.
November brings two seniors to the spotlight: AJ Puskar and Athiei Aguto. Both are integral members of various BT activities and shared their thoughts on their final year of high school. Bavishya Bachu, a 2022 graduate of BT, was the Revered Raider for this month. She shared what she’s been up to lately in college and her connection to BT through tennis. Freshman Quinn has a BT Voices Unplugged video about role models and heroes who walk the halls at BT.
Verbatim seniors Jana, Katie, William, and Tanya had a fun November as they not only wrote a Senior Wisdom article with advice on landing a job in high school and how to juggle a packed schedule, but also took a trip to Scooter’s and reviewed a variety of drinks.
Our podcasts this month bring something for everyone. Raider Rush highlights the robotics team while the Angelic Analysis had a Thanksgiving panel. Crafting Culture sat down with senior Siri Doddapaneni to talk about the beauty and importance of Diwali and other popular Indian holidays. Sound Clash with Mr. Coffey brewed up the ultimate coffee shop playlist, and the new Ethics and Philosophy podcast discussed academic stress with the wisdom of college counselor Mr. Slocombe.
As you flip through Verbatim’s stories this month, we hope you find a piece of your own stories reflected within our publication. November was full of fall festivities, politics, culture, and the ultimate transition to winter.
