When the holiday season comes, so do party invites, Christmas photo shoots, and presents to deliver. All of these holiday obligations often follow with outfit emergencies. Everything from Christmas parties to pajamas to photoshoots to ugly sweaters requires some effort to style up for cute results. And so, here are our recommendations for how to spruce up your holiday outfits.
Holiday Parties
Many people start rolling in with party invites when the holiday season rolls around. Work and school parties, friends dinners, or even just a night out lead to a myriad of outfit options. Many of these events lead to pictures which means a cute outfit is necessary.
For these holiday parties, Fleece Lined Tights are the perfect choice to make these cute yet comfy holiday outfits! These warm and fuzzy base layers can create an adorable outfit without sacrificing comfort when paired with a cute miniskirt and short dress.
There are different styles of sheerness, a dark brown or black style can be chosen for a more modest look for events such as work events are extremely popular. For more casual and fun times, sheer options are the perfect choice under skirts for a night out or even uniforms for a day in class.
For a fun and simple outfit during parties or a night out, a dress can be the perfect solution. Velvet dresses are the trendy dress option this Christmas season. Paired with fleece-lined tights and a cute pair of heels or boots, velvet dresses encapsulate holiday vibes while staying fun and stylish. There are many options on Pinterest that show the near limitless velvet options and our favorite is a Dark Red Velvet Dress that comes in under $100 but stays cute and festive.
Any of these recommendations can be paired with closet staples to build the perfect holiday party outfits that are guaranteed compliments from friends and family.
Holiday Pajamas
Next, we’re going to move on to the second most crucial part of fashion this holiday season: pajamas!
With family photos from mom when opening up gifts, PJ day at school, or a holiday gift exchange between friends, holiday PJs may be the perfect choice to look cute and comfy.
Pictured above is our first and probably most popular pic for holiday PJs. Traditional holiday pajama pants are the perfect staple for so many occasions. They can be worn for a comfy free dress day at school, the night before your holiday celebrations, and even out to the grocery store for some last minute holiday necessities. They come in so many different styles like the traditional red and black plaid (pictured right) and some new updated styles like red and white plaid (pictured left).
Along with the plaid styles are multiple patterned pants decorated with everything from Menorahs to little penguins to rainbow ornaments and they can be found at most major retailers including Target, Walmart, and Amazon.
Secondly, we recommend matching silk PJ sets. If you’re looking for something for a gift for your best friends or a holiday gift exchange, matching PJ sets are the perfect choice to spruce up your traditional PJ choices.
Our first recommendation for matching silk PJs came from Victoria’s Secret. The brand has the most renowned silk pajamas that come in multiple styles, sizes, designs, and colors. The Glazed Satin Short Pajama Set from the brand is the most famous and makes the perfect staple in the traditional pink stripes or even the 12 new colors and designs.
The Victoria’s Secret options can be a little pricey so we do recommend some cheaper options that can be found on Amazon. A pair from Ekouaer is perfect with pants and a long-sleeved shirt that comes in a soft sik-looking satin featuring almost 40 color options all for under $40. Our last recommendation for pajamas is a look alike to the Victoria’s Secret pair that may not last as long but looks just as cute in 18 different colors and patterns all for under $35.
Holiday Sweaters
The last event that may bring holiday fashion emergencies this season is the traditional ugly sweater debacle. Whether it’s an ugly sweater day at work or a party hosted by a friend, there is always a thin line between the funniest ugly sweater around and just downright awful.
Our first recommendations are for those who want to be as crazy as possible. While we understand that subtlety is key, an ugly sweater party may not be the place for that. If you want to guarantee laughs with your crazy sweater, we recommend going for something 3D this season. Pom-poms, reindeer horns, glittery bows, and even working lights are the perfect options to show everyone up with your wild choices. And, if you’re going to go all out, make sure your colors match your vibe. While black is simple and easy, push yourself out of the box with some bright greens, blues, reds, and maybe even pinks!
Our last recommendation for these Holiday sweaters is if you want to keep yourself a little more classy and simple. We understand that the holiday season is full of bright colors and outlandish designs so here are some choices if you want to tone down on the madness.
Sweaters with Bow Motifs are a simple and fun choice that doesn’t stick with any one holiday in particular, making them a perfect choice. Also, a cute cardigan adorned with Santas and candy canes is simple and cute if you want a Christmas option with a little more color. Lastly, a sweater with Snowflakes is perfect for the whole winter season and can be worn far after the end of the holiday festivities.
In the end, these recommendations may not save you from all your holiday troubles, but they may be able to alleviate some panic over an outfit choice. Any of these style options is the perfect step to eliminating holiday fashion emergencies. Happy holidays!
