Second semester for seniors brings a much easier pace and plenty of time for reflection. Graduation feels both near and far at the same time, as seniors try to relax and soak up the last bits of high school.
Senior Samhith Chirumamilla has been at Brownell Talbot for thirteen years. He said, “I like the house system at BT and how it brings people from different grades and interests together. My friendships aren’t just limited to grade levels.”
On campus, Samy has been a member of the robotics team since seventh grade. He has also competitively rowed for four seasons. He shared one of his favorite memories from robotics: “Runners up at the Mall of America Signature Event was one of our best performances in robotics and is one of my most favorite memories.”
When reflecting on his favorite class, Samy mentioned AP Physics C: “Although it’s probably the hardest class I have taken, it’s one of my favorites because of how applicable the course material is. The sheer number of students in the class and Mrs. Harm’s teaching style makes the class very enjoyable.” Samy believes senior year will end up being his favorite year because of the flexibility to choose how he spends his free periods.
Samy is most looking forward to the senior trip: “I am with a group of people that I appreciate, and going on a trip right before summer break seems like a great way to end my high school experience.”
When thinking about the future, Samy shared, “I am a little nervous about the uncertainty of the next couple years, but I am excited to see where I will end up. I am applying for Aerospace Engineering. I have only had one decision from Purdue at this time, and it is an acceptance. There are no plans currently set; I am waiting for other decisions to come out. The schools that I am hoping for are UT Austin and Georgia Tech.”
To end, Samy offered valuable advice for underclassmen: “Lock in during your freshman and sophomore year so junior and senior year can be a breeze; but don’t stress about things—everything will turn out as they should.”
