Tanya: Every year, the House Lip Sync Battle is one of the most fun events, making Prom day even more exciting. The energy is always great—everyone packed into the auditorium, cheering at the top of their lungs as each House performs. My house, Ingalls, has won for the past two years with Clarkson. The whole process is always chaotic but also a lot of fun. Another defining moment for me was winning state tennis my freshman year. It was an incredible feeling and a day I won’t ever forget.
Katie: House Inductions is my favorite event of the year. I love the surprise of finding out who is in your house, and to me it’s like greek life for BT. I love the way everyone is in suspense and then when a house gets a new member, everyone cheers so loud for them to welcome them to their home for the next four years. Then after inductions, all the houses go to a bonding event together to get to know all the new members.
Jana: I really enjoy House Olympics, especially the lip sync competitions. I’m in Abbott house and we always do really well in that event; we’ve won two out of the three competitions since my freshman year. All the events really make Brownell Talbot feel like one close family. Everyone loves participating in really unique games and events. My personal favorite is definitely the scooter race. During this time, I feel like everyone really support each other and help each other out.
William: The house Lip sync battle will always be my favorite tradition at brownell. I love doing it every year even if we don’t win. We always try really hard to come up with something funny and creative which is so much fun. Watching the other houses perform is also a big part of why I love it so much. Lip sync day is probably the most I laugh every year. Seeing everyones hilarious performances is always just so funny to me. Also on the same day as the lip sync battle is House olympics which I also love a lot. Its so fun to compete with my house against other houses. Every year I get very competitive and it’s so much fun.
