Prom is a time of the year filled with excitement, anticipation, and of course, the stress of picking that perfect prom look. Every spring, students struggle to find that perfect dress and accessories to compliment. But don’t fret—we’re here to give some recommendations to make this time of the year a little more simple.

Shimmer and Shine

One of the fastest-growing trends we’ve seen within prom fashion over the past few years has been glimmering patterns. From sequins to rhinestone embellishments, sparkles allow you to stand out amongst the crowd.

While we think all over rhinestones, slap-on glitter, or sequins may be too much for prom night, we can’t deny a little can go a long way. Picking a dress with an Embellished Neckline or a Sequined Skirt can spice up any boring old dress. If you want to shine separate from the rest of prom fashion, picking a dress with some extra glimmer can do the trick.

Dress Styles

One of the hardest parts about prom dress shopping is deciding which silhouette is best for you. While the decision is always up to what you think looks best on your own body, we’re here to give some recommendations of trendy styles for the prom season.

The first recommendation has seen to rise in popularity with no end in sight: corseted bodices. This is a style that seems to look good on all body types and is compatible with almost any complimenting neckline. They’re many options for corsets including those that tie, those that button, or even those with sheer paneling for a more modern look.

Next, ball gowns are a silhouette you can never go wrong with. They have a timeless appeal that goes back to the 1950’s. Just like corsets, ball gowns can be found in dresses with all kinds of necklines including off-the-shoulder, strapless, or even fuller coverage long-sleeve dresses.

Finally, we recommend A-line dresses for anyone trying to achieve a more classic, sleek, elegant look. Straighter dresses can be extremely simple yet easy to spice up with a bright color or sparkly pattern for those looking to stand out. Either way, they remain stunning and timeless no matter the design over top.

Color Trends

The final challenge when finding that perfect challenge may lie within finding the perfect color. A lot of times, the perfect dress may find its way to you but lack the correct color options. The trendy colors always seem to be changing and if you’re anything like us you may want some recommendations to keep your prom dress colorful yet tasteful.

Vibrant jewels are a perfect choice for prom this year. Sapphire blues, emerald greens, and darker purples are timeless colors that can work with any silhouette to create that perfect look. They can be tied together with silver jewelry and white shoes to complement both pictures and the dancefloor.

Classic reds and blacks are the next option to staying classy yet fresh at prom this year. Anything from a darker maroon to a lighter Ferrari red can help you stand out while looking your best. Additionally, black can be paired with colorful shoes or sequined patterns for a fun look.

Lastly, pastel colors are the most popular this season. While they remain extremely common, it’s hard to overdo a soft sage green or sky blue. These colors are perfect for the spring time that prom lies within. Pastels can complement well with whites, blacks, metallics, and brighter colors to make sure you’re never clashing on prom night.
