Tanya: I decided to try the morning bun at Lola’s. The cafe itself was super aesthetic and had a great vibe, but the pastry didn’t really hit the mark for me. It had a strong sour taste—probably because everything is made with sourdough—and the aftertaste wasn’t pleasant. Honestly, it looked better than it tasted. I probably wouldn’t come back just for the food, but it was still a fun visit overall. Plus, I got Dr. Low to sign my yearbook, and I’m the first person he’s ever signed a yearbook for!
William: Lola’s is a place I’ve been to only a few times, and I really enjoyed what I had. This time was no different, with the pastry and drink I got being very delicious. The drink I got was a freshly squeezed orange juice, which was very tangy and delicious. The pastry I got was a raspberry danish which was absolutely delicious. The raspberries were fresh, and the filling in the Danish was sweet and delicious. Overall, I would give Lola’s a 7.5 out of 10 and would definitely recommend you try it out.
Jana: I’ve only had the sit-down breakfast at Lola’s before; I’ve never tried their little cafe with pastries. I ordered the chocolate knot and the chai latte. I thought the chai was incredible, extremely flavorful, and delicious. However, I’d most likely say that the one at the Joslyn is a bit better. The chocolate knot, on the other hand, I found a bit underwhelming. I feel as though it was a bit tough to get through, and there wasn’t enough chocolate to balance out the dough. The ambience of the restaurant was wonderfully cozy and comfortable, and it gave us the opportunity to sit down and talk about our future plans. If you are planning on going to Lola’s, I’d suggest getting a full meal there, instead of just stopping at the cafe for a pastry.
Dr. Low: Wonderful atmosphere and ambiance. The americano was solid and the scone was good, but they appear to alternate the flavors, so there’s no certainty that a preferred option will be available. A perfectly acceptable second choice if there are no remaining seats, or too many unleashed dogs, at Blueline.
