People will go to great lengths to get a better look at a beautiful natural feature, but sometimes there are dire consequences. On a beautiful August day, Juliet Low should have looked before she leaped, turning her angle in a quest to get closer to a favorite tourist destination outside Minneapolis
When visiting the twin cities, a Low family tradition is to visit Minnehaha Falls and sometimes ride tandem bikes. According to Cecilia Low Minnehaha Falls is “pretty big”. After walking down an incredible amount of stairs and through a picturesque trail the viewer arrives at a bridge with a knee high wall. Park management has blocked off the only man made trail, so to get a better look the visiter has to scale a wall with a slight drop off. For some visits the wall is an easy jump, and for others not so much. On the day in question Juliet Low was among the latter.
Minnehaha falls is according Explore Minnesota a 53-foot waterfall. The word Minnehaha drives from the Dakota meaning “curling water” or “water fall.” Visitors to the park can enjoy ice cream, a sit down restaurant, and beautiful trails. The Minnehaha falls is a great place to go for beautiful scenery and peace, unless the adage “look before you leap” becomes true.
