Dear Susie and Jasper,
I need advice. Hoco is coming up and I’m nervous about EVERYTHING! I don’t have a date, I don’t have a dress that I like on me, and then my group that I’m going with is nonexistent or confusing. This is to stressful with all the school and sports going on. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks,
Helpless for Hoco
Dear Helpless for Hoco,
First, take a deep breath. Hoco is the prime time of high school with the school year starting and the fall sports in action. You need to use the moment like it’s

your last. Cherish every single moment because as you get older these moments are the ones you look back on and still wish you were in high school. Hoco is time for fun, so remember whatever you are doing make sure you are having fun. The dress isn’t that big of a deal. Find something you feel confident and pretty in and that’s all that matters. Also you don’t need a date even if all your friends have one. Make your own fun you don’t need a date to decide if you have fun or not. If you do have a date don’t let that stop you from having fun as well. For your group problem, I would have a very organized schedule. Leave a lot of time for everything because you may think you have enough time, but when the day comes you will be running late. Start early for everything: getting ready, dinner, and pictures. Make all your planning as fast as possible because you need to relax on the day of hoco. Cherish every moment you have even if it’s not going great find something that is going well for you. Don’t forget the main reason for hoco, to have fun. School will go by very fast, so you just need to keep pushing through the hard things because once you accomplish the hard things everything else will come easier and your hard work will follow you. You can do this.
Sincerely,
Susie
Hey Hoco Person,
Well, well, well, if it isn’t the settling of the fall fears and tears, an annual occurrence. The first thing we’re going to do here, is STOP being nervous, it’ll only make you loose focus of what’s REALLY important. We all love to look forward to homecoming and prom, but sometimes, a lot of us spent a bit TOO much time worrying about it. Homecoming groups come and go and finding the “perfect” dress or having the “best” hair is not going to be possible. Sure maybe a cute dress and nice hair would be sufficient, but truth be told, you’ll literally NEVER have the ‘perfect,’ look. Truly, the ‘look,’ is for you. Not for anyone else, for you. So make it about you, add something fun, make it unique!
In this day and age times move so fast, and school is going to move even FASTER if they’re taken for granted. Enjoy this sports season and ENJOY the time you have and are in right now. I promise you if you spend all your days under the sun
worrying about the next thing, you wouldn’t have even LIVED. So sometimes, that calls for initiation. Take initiative. Make your own group. It’s scary, but put yourself out there. You never REALLY know what the outcome would be.
So go, put yourself out there, before I do it for you!
From,
Juicy Jasper
