Movie Review: Spider-Man: No Way Home

Nostalgia at its best

NOTE: This review contains no spoilers.

A movie full of emotional depth, Spider-Man: No Way Home brings back memories from our childhood, filling the screen with delightful surprises.

At the end of the previous sequel Spider-Man: Far from Home, the villain, Mysterio, revealed Spider-Man’s identity as Peter Parker to the world. So, with Peter Parker’s secret revealed, our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is in for a treat in the film NWH (No Way Home) as he’s unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal and superhero lives. Peter Parker goes to Dr. Strange and asks Strange to cast a spell and make everyone forget he’s Spider-Man, but it ends in chaos and the multiverse comes into play. The film goes on as Peter Parker realizes what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

One of the reasons NWH is outstanding is the concept of the multiverse which brings several characters from past films into this one. All of the villains play an important role as Peter Parker makes the decision to help them instead of sending them back to their own universe to die. However, one of the biggest reasons I loved this film is of one surprise guest who unquestionably stole the show. With his spot-on humor and emotional moments, he brought a version of Spider-Man that was outstanding, to say the least.

The main character of this film is Tom Holland, who plays the role as Spider-Man well as an empathetic young man. Some other characters already known by many are MJ played by Zendaya, Aunt May played by Marisa Tomei, Ned played by Jacob Batalon, and Dr. Strange played by Benedict Cumberbatch. The love interest between Peter and MJ is undoubtedly an

important aspect to the film, especially to the ending. As many may know, there are a number of other characters that are equally important in the film, but I’ll save those surprises for you to watch.

I watched Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters and it was definitely worth it because the audience was fully engaged. We all clapped and whistled at special moments and this added to the enjoyment of the film. Sadly, the film is only exclusively in theaters but is said to be on the streaming platform Starz this coming year.

When I watched NWH, I truly was hooked on each second of the movie and I’ve heard this has been the case for several. So, would I recommend watching it? Absolutely. I have to say the ending did leave me in tears as Peter made a heart-breaking decision. But he still has his suit, his powers, and his empathy, so no matter where he goes, he’ll always be our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
