School Spirit Community Voices

Since the beginning of December, the Brownell Talbot basketball teams have been practicing and performing well in their games. While the teams never drop the bar when it comes to cheering on their teammates, dress themes bring even more hype to the student section. Here is what the BT community had to say about the dress themes at basketball games:

A theme I would want would be jerseys.

So far I haven’t really loved or hated any of the themes. I think my least favorite was probably green out just because it’s not a widely “owned” color. Maybe it would help to get a group to decide themes or have a student poll each week before the games. A theme I would want would be jerseys.”

I’m all for whatever brings a little more energy to the gym!

I like the themes. Our student section is pretty energetic as is, but the themes seem to add another level of excitement. I don’t think I can pinpoint a favorite theme.  I’m all for whatever brings a little more energy to the gym!”

they show school spirit which is nice

“I like the themes because they show school spirit which is nice since we have such a small student body compared to some of the other private schools in Omaha. My favorite theme was probably blackout because the most people participated in it.”

-Amelia Bell, ’25

It is so nice to see the students take ownership of the themes and have fun with them.

“I love the theme dress games for basketball season! I believe that it helps not only increase school spirit but adds to the overall atmosphere of the game.  It is so nice to see the students take ownership of the themes and have fun with them. Some of the best theme nights are when the students not only “dress to impress”, but they go the extra step by bringing in appropriate props and accessories.
