When thinking about the next Senior Sips review, we knew we wanted something that stood out from the usual coffee shop vibe. That’s how we landed on Tous les Jours, Omaha’s Korean-French bakery where every pastry looks like a work of art. Dr. Low had told us not to bring him anything, insisting we didn’t need to, but we knew we had to. After all, he is graciously letting us take on these reviews, and how could we not share the magic of this place? From the warm scent of fresh bread to the eye-catching cakes, it was impossible to leave Tous les Jour empty-handed.
Katie: The last time we went on an excursion like this, I was tormented by the presence of William Ramon, and I swore I would never go through that experience again. Unfortunately, I was tricked. I thought I had secured the front seat to avoid William, but as I rounded the corner to get into Tanya’s car (which was already a questionable choice), I found Jana sitting in my spot. I was once again trapped in the back seat with William Ramon. His constant chatter and energy early in the morning were unbelievably irritating. He tripped me, insulted me, and, overall, annoyed me to no end. On a brighter note, Tous Les Jours was quite enjoyable. I made sure to distance myself from William because I wanted to savor the serene experience that comes with stepping inside this café. Tous Les Jours is a French-Asian bakery with many delicious food and drink options. I had been to Tous Les Jours before, so I knew exactly what to order. I got a Ham and Cheese Pastry, Pain au Chocolat, and an Iced Matcha Latte with vanilla, and they were all 10/10. I would recommend everyone try this unique café the next time they have a free moment.
Jana: I don’t believe that I am particularly knowledgeable when it comes to coffee; I haven’t yet had the pleasure of enjoying the myriad different flavors and types of coffee. The caramel macchiato at Tous Les Jours enticed me. I felt as though I needed something sweet and caffeine filled to help me get through my tough day of a singular class. I could tell just by looking at the appearance of the drink that it was going to be a wonderful experience. The drink was quite pricey for something of such a small size (a whopping $5.70), but once I had my first sip, I knew it was worth every penny. I am confident in my belief that this was one of the best tasting cups of coffee I have ever indulged myself in. The subtle caramel flavor balanced well with the smooth flavor of the espresso. I also purchased a fruit tart, which was well worth the money too. The pastry featured a croissant-like crust coupled with a rich vanilla creme and topped with some of the freshest tasting fruit one can get in December. The macchiato and pastry supplied to me by Tous Les Jours was well worth the drive down Dodge street, and the money I spent to purchase it.
Tanya: The moment I stepped into Tous les Jours, leaving behind the odd smell outside, the vibe shifted. Inside, it was clean, warm, and inviting, with soft music playing and displays of pastries that made me want to try everything. I chose the strawberry croissant, and at around $5.00, it felt like a treat worth the price. The croissant had golden layers that flaked perfectly with each bite, revealing the whipped cream and strawberries inside that were just right. The balance of buttery pastry and the sweetness of the whipped cream made every bite perfect. I will definitely be back to try more of their pastries.
William: One day in journalism we decided to take a trip to Tous les Jours. I was very excited as I had been there prior and I enjoyed it very much. As we were about to leave class I realized something, Katie was nowhere to be seen. I couldn’t believe it. I was overjoyed. Finally I wouldn’t be tormented the whole excursion. As we were walking down the stairs I saw her. Katie was just late to class. I couldn’t believe it. Before I knew it I was in the back seat with my greatest enemy Katie Picard. Her non-stop talking and restless behavior annoyed me to no end the whole trip to Tous Les Jours. Once I got there I got a vanilla filled doughnut and a Hot chocolate and all was well. It was delicious, so delicious I forgot about Katie. Tous Les Jours, while expensive, is very delicious and definitely worth going every once in a while.
