Last week, against Gross Catholic High School, Charlie suffered what seemed to be a season-ending injury: a fracture on his ankle. At first, the whole team feared the worst, thinking his season was over for good. Charlie had been one of the team’s most consistent players, and his absence was immediately felt both on the field and in the locker room. Despite the pain, Charlie kept a positive attitude and showed up to every practice to support his teammates.
The trainers and coaches worked closely with him, creating a recovery plan to get him back as soon as safely possible. Over the next few days, his determination stood out. He refused to let the injury define his season. By midweek, doctors confirmed that the fracture was minor enough that he could potentially return for the last game if recovery went well.
News came back from the Doctors this past Tuesday, October 21st, that Charlie will be cleared for the Thursday night game against the Omaha Boys Town Cowboys. He will return to practice Wednesday, October 22nd, in preparation for the game the following day.
