Senior Snapshot: Teagan McCallister

Shinning The Spotlight on Our Senior Snapshot Specialist
Senior Snapshot: Teagan McCallister

Graduation is right around the corner for the Brownell Talbot Class of 2026, and we have made it to a mere 2 senior snapshots left. Yet before we can indulge in our senioritis and embrace the caps and gowns calling our names, the very writer who made our Verbtaim seniors shine deserves her time in the limelight: Teagan McCallister.

Teagan McCallister came to BT in her junior year of high school from the desertscapes of Scottsdale, Arizona, to the four distinct seasons that the Midwest most notably brings. Surely a cultural adjustment, but the real shift? Adapting to an environment with two freezing seasons. But if there’s one thing that Teagan knows best, it’s fashion. And if anyone was gonna bundle up for a snowy December, you can always count on Teagan to dress for the occasion and always deliver. No matter the event, a concert, a birthday party, a trip to France, or the one and only Brownell Talbot Chapel, Teagan has never failed to glam out in a stylized, classy, and fashionable outfit.

Teagan never fails to keep herself busy. On campus, she has been a part of the BT speech team (go yakking raiders!), The BT golf team, culture club, politics club, and, of course, BT journalism. Yet, the activities don’t stop there. Off campus, Teagan volunteers once a week at a shelter, works at a French restaurant called Le Voltaire, and tutors once a week. No matter how busy these activities make Teagan, one thing she will always remember is the early morning bus rides to speech and the van rides for golf (where she undoubtedly hits a Pin high (when a golfer gets their ball onto the green and into the hole in just two strokes)) because of one special element: the people.

To get her through the school year, Teagan’s coaches, teachers, and friends built her up. But amid busy schedules and homework, the one person who carried her through her entire academic journey was her mom: “My role model has always been and probably always will be my mom.”

To maintain these achievements, Teagan focused on a few special ways to wind down after a busy day: “I destress by traveling when I can, playing golf with my dad, shopping with my mom, and just hanging out with my friends because they’re my favorite people.”

Out of all her high school years, Teagan’s senior year was her favorite: “I feel like I stopped worrying about what people thought about me and just focused on making myself happy by surrounding myself with good people and focusing on my future in college.” To reach this mindset, Teagan wanted to share her advice with the underclassmen: “Don’t get focused on the petty drama. If you won’t remember something in fifteen years, don’t spend more than fifteen minutes thinking about it.”

When asked what Teagan most loved about BT, she emphasized the tight-knit community on campus: “I can get to know people from all grades and form good connections with teachers.” Teagan also loves BT traditions, like House Olympics and prom traditions, such as the junior/senior letters.

Surely, Teagan’s time in both Scottsdale and Omaha has had its precious moments, especially the friends she’s made along the way. What she’ll especially miss is how easy it was to see people she knows all the time.

After graduation, Teagan already has traveling plans booked to France and a road trip she can’t wait to attend. Not to mention, she will continue working to bring her “bag up” before college.

Next year, Teagan plans to attend the University of Florida, where she will double major in Economics and International Relations. Though a challenging school to be admitted to, Teagan’s work ethic, multiple extracurriculars, and achieving above a 4.0 for the entire duration of her high school career made it hard for the admissions team at Florida to deny her admission. The Verbatim staff wishes Teagan well and cannot wait to see where her life takes her. Next time we struggle to find the perfect outfit, we know that Teagan will be just a mere FaceTime call away from helping anyone look their best, because Teagan doesn’t just dress others up, she puts them up. Not only will others look their best, but they’ll also feel their best; that’s the eloquence of Teagan McCallister.
