Community Voices: AP Testing

As AP testing season begins, students reflect on the stress, preparation, and pride that come with taking college-level exams in high school.
Community Voices: AP Testing

AP testing gives high school students the opportunity to take college-level exams while they are still in high school. These exams are connected to AP classes, which are designed to be more challenging and prepare students for college work. There are about 40 different AP exams available in subjects such as English, math, science, history, art, and world languages. Students can choose AP classes based on their interests, strengths, and future college goals.

AP exams are scored on a scale from 1 to 5. Many colleges give credit to students who earn a 3, 4, or 5, but the exact score needed depends on the college. Earning college credit through AP testing can help students save money, skip introductory college classes, or graduate earlier. Even though AP testing can be stressful, it gives students a chance to challenge themselves and show the hard work they put in throughout the school year.
