Dear Susie,
Hello! I need help. I’m having trouble with my friends right now. Everyone is in a very tight knit group, so I can’t really join a group of friends because they are all too close, but I also don’t want to be friends with some people at school because they aren’t my vibe. I want to have fun during high school, but I have to have good friends for it, so I’m not sure what to do. If you have any advice, that would be great!
Sincerely,
Questioning Friends
Dear Questioning Friends,
I know that finding true friends can be hard. It is important to know your values first. You should never have to be different than who you are for some friends. Real friends will embrace you for who you are. If people don’t seem open to being friends with you then stay your ground because you wouldn’t want to be friends with people who don’t want you there in the first place. If no one at school fits your vibe, try and make friends outside of school. This can be difficult, but it is worth a try. It is easier to gain friends through shared activities that you enjoy. However, it is important to not stoop down to another person’s level just because you want to be friends. If they aren’t a good person, then don’t be friends with them. I hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Susie
