One of my favorite activities to do in my free time is baking and cooking—especially with the weather becoming chillier, nothing beats freshly baked goods. Although I’m no professional baker, I do like to believe my cinnamon roll recipe is as perfect as I can get it. I first got this recipe from my dad who enjoys experimenting in the kitchen. Then I started editing his recipe and adding my own touch to the cinnamon rolls. While the foundation of the cinnamon rolls like the dough and the cinnamon filling are relatively familiar to any cinnamon roll recipe, the cream cheese frosting and assemblage of the rolls are how I add my own touch on this recipe.
Ingredients

- Dough
- 4½ cups flour
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 4 tsp yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1½ cups water
- 6 tbsp butter
- 1 large egg
- Cinnamon filling
- 6 tbsp Butter
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 1½ tbsp cinnamon
- Cream cheese frosting
- 6 tbsp butter
- 6oz cream cheese
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ⅛ tsp salt
Instructions
- First start by combining flour, sugar, salt, yeast, water, butter, and an egg to make the dough
- After mixing thoroughly place a towel over the dough and let it rise for an hour
- While the dough is rising start to make the cinnamon filling by simply combining the butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until everything is the same consistency throughout the mixture
- After one hour of letting the dough rise, roll it out until the dough is evenly distributed into a rectangular sheet and cover the top with the cinnamon mixture
- After the top is completely covered with the cinnamon spread, roll up the dough and make cuts about every two inches along the roll
- Before putting the rolls into the pan, sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon on the bottom of the pan, then add the rolls, and lastly pour heavy whipping cream over the rolls
- Proof the rolls in the oven at 100°F for one hour

Cordyllia Kpodar - After one hour, remove the rolls and set the oven to 350°F
- When the temperature reaches 350°F, place the rolls in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until the tops are golden brown
- While the cinnamon rolls are baking, start to whip up the cream cheese frosting by combining room temperature butter and cream cheese
- Once fully combined add in the powdered sugar, salt, and vanilla
- When the cinnamon rolls are removed from the oven, let them cool and apply the cream cheese frosting to the rolls
Once the rolls were finished and my house started to smell of cinnamon, I packaged the rolls to give to my friends during lunch the next day. So as the weather becomes chillier and the nights become longer, adding a little warmth to this time of year can be as simple as trying out a new recipe or, in my case, making my favorite cinnamon rolls for my friends and family.
