Sunday marked an important, but definitely not good, milestone for the Kansas City Chiefs. They lost 19-22 to the Denver Broncos, led by quarterback Bo Nix, resulting in their record to go to 5-5. This Week 11 score leaves the Chiefs with a much lower chance of keeping up their postseason streak of the last ten years.
In both 2022 and 2023, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, and last year they made it but lost. Sadly, according to Arrowhead Pride, they now have only a 57% chance of making it to the playoffs and a 4% chance of winning the Super Bowl. The team has seven more games left in their guaranteed season.
The Chiefs are definitely not holding up their high standards, but it’s not over for them yet. Seven more games is plenty to turn the tides. Though it’s not just up to them, as the other teams in their division will have to drop some games as well. As stated in an Arrowhead Pride November 17th post by John Dixon, “if Kansas City wins out, there’s only about a 1-in-25 chance it will hold the No. 1 seed.”

Coach Andy Reid felt like they had a solid game against the Broncos, but that the Broncos came out on top. Reporter Matt McMullen stated in a November 17th Chiefs article that Quarter Patrick Mahomes said “[We] had an opportunity at the end of the game, and [we didn’t] come through. Getting the ball back with four minutes [left], and all we needed was a field goal…”
Sunday’s loss was not the only disappointing game for the Chiefs, as their 2025 season began with them going down to the Los Angeles Chargers. Then another loss to the Eagles. After defeating the Giants and the Ravens, they went down once again to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Their wins and losses went back and forth, ending up with their most recent loss. NFL fans are certainly not used to this alternating record— the Chiefs usually dominate.
Despite their 5 and 5 record, avid NFL fan Mr. Smith is confident that the Chiefs schedule is favorable enough for them to make the playoffs. If they make the playoffs, Mr. Smith likes thier chances even more.
It’s safe to say that the Chiefs aren’t done for, and they still have had many great plays and games this 2025 season. Fans, like me, are not going to give up hope for the legendary team yet. It’s never too late for a comeback… especially when you’re the Kansas City Chiefs!
