The Varsity Girls Basketball team defeated Roncalli Catholic this past Saturday, 50-35. The girls basketball program has never had a victory against Roncalli, especially not on their turf. The game was neck and neck, BT only up by 5 points leading into the fourth quarter.

For most of the matchup, neither team led by more than a few points, trading defensive stops and momentum swings, until Brownell Talbot pulled ahead in the fourth quarter.
It was a rough, foul-heavy game that kept both the crowd and the bench on edge. Fan Quinn Iverson observed, “The team’s chemistry has noticeably grown over the past two years, and it feels stronger this year than ever before.” Due to the game’s physicality, the Gibbs sisters nearly fouled out in the first quarter, and optimism faded when both had to be benched for foul trouble. The girls’ perseverance didn’t stop, though, as they finished the third quarter six points ahead of Roncalli.

With the excitement of a first win and the senior parents holding their players’ cutouts, it created momentum to start off the season, motivating the team for a well-deserved victory. The girls are thrilled with the win and proud to start the season 1-0.
Stay tuned for regular updates on the reset of the season. The girls have an away game on Thursday against Gross Catholic, and then a home game on Saturday (1:00 PM tipoff) against Arlington. Show up and cheer on the team!
