Senior Snapshot: Angel Bhandari

Angel has been at BT for six years, beginning in 7th grade and growing up at the school from middle school through senior year. Over that time, she has fully embraced everything BT has to offer. What she loves most about BT is the wide range of opportunities available to everyone and how easy it is to create something new if it doesn’t already exist. Whether through academics, athletics, or clubs, Angel believes that BT always holds an opportunity for every person. Her favorite traditions are House Olympics—especially the Lip Sync Battle—and Senior Poems during prom because both events make the end of the year feel special by bringing the community together.

At BT, Angel has been actively involved in DECA, Robotics, Cheer, the Head of School Student Advisory Council, and Journalism. Outside of school, she has worked as a hostess at Blue Sushi and previously as a CNA. Her activities in and out of school reflect her love for balancing responsibility with her busy schedule. Some of her favorite high school memories come from traveling for robotics competitions. Attending Worlds in Dallas and St. Louis each year, along with visiting places like Utah and North Dakota for signature events, allowed her to see new cities all around the country.

Angel’s favorite classes throughout high school have been Mrs. Navarro’s Spanish classes. She appreciates the fun, welcoming environment and especially enjoys the food days that bring everyone together. When looking back, Angel considers senior year her favorite, mostly because of the flexibility in her schedule and the extra free time that allowed her to enjoy her final year to the fullest.

Looking back, Angel is especially proud of her accomplishments in DECA. Placing first at the State competition and qualifying for internationals in the International Business Plan event for two consecutive years with her partner stands out as a major achievement. Competing in Orlando last year and preparing for Atlanta this year has been an exciting reward for their hard work. Throughout high school, Angel feels like she has grown more confident and has learned how to balance a busy schedule while staying committed to the activities she cares about.

As graduation approaches, Angel feels a mix of excitement and nostalgia. While she is looking forward to the future, she knows she will miss being at BT and seeing her friends every day. Angel is excited to attend Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business this fall, where she plans to major in Global Business and Finance at the Lincoln Center campus in New York City. She looks forward to the opportunities that come with living in such a dynamic city and starting this new chapter.

Angel knows she will miss the spontaneity of high school the most with last-minute plans, Starbucks runs, spirit days, and small time with friends that make BT the most special.

When asked about role models, Angel reflects on the many people in her life, such as her teachers, family, and friends, who have encouraged her to step outside her comfort zone and grow into who she is today. To underclassmen, Angel offers thoughtful advice: don’t compare your high school experience to anyone else’s. She believes that everyone finds their own path at their own pace, and it’s important to focus on what genuinely makes you happy and passionate.

During the school year, Angel unwinds by watching Bollywood movies, getting frozen yogurt with friends, going to the temple, or stopping by The Mill. Looking ahead, she is especially excited for a joint graduation trip with her cousin Rihana. Since they graduated only two weeks apart and are very close, she is looking forward to celebrating this milestone together before heading off to college.

As she prepares to leave BT, Angel carries with her a sense of confidence, balance, and appreciation for the experiences that shaped her. Although it is bittersweet to say goodbye, she is ready to embrace the future with excitement and curiosity for everything that lies ahead.
