Senior Snapshot: Taylor Rewczuk

Let’s learn about Taylor’s favorites in memories, moments, and BT traditions
Senior Snapshot: Taylor Rewczuk

Joining Brownell Talbot in her sophomore year, Taylor Rewczuk has spent the past three years involved in almost every aspect of Brownell Talbot life. Taylor says her favorite aspect of BT is the supportive environment and community that comes from small class sizes.  While Taylor loves many traditions of BT, her favorites are end of the end-of-the-year House Olympics and dress-up weeks during prom and homecoming.

Taylor has remained extremely active her entire time in high school. She participates in golf, powerlifting, basketball, and track, but has even added softball and cheer in the past. Out of school, Taylor has a job, and this year she joined DECA to add to her list of non-sports activities. When asked about her favorite memories, Taylor said that her best moments come from the time she spends with her teammates. Either relaxing under the tent at track meets or playing on the basketball court with her closest friends, Taylor loves every moment with her teammates.

As far as academics go, Taylor says that Journalism is one of her favorite classes. For Verbatim, she co-hosts the BT podcast This Is Thursday. Taylor also enjoys strength and conditioning, where she helps maintain her balance during the winter sports season. As she gets deeper into her last year at BT, Taylor says she’s embracing the mix of excitement and nostalgia that graduation is truly approaching.

Next fall, Taylor will attend the University of Nebraska Kearney. While Taylor is excited for all of the fun that college will bring, she says she’ll miss the community that sports have brought at BT. She can’t wait to experience the sports and community in college through clubs and hopefully conuntinuing to play sports. When asked about her biggest role model, Taylor credits her mom: “She is someone who goes for what she wants and isn’t afraid of others’ opinions.” She admires her mother’s entrepreneurial drive and strives to bring that same determination into her own life for her future in business and entrepreneurship.

Reflecting on her growth throughout high school, Taylor says she’s proud of how much more confident and outspoken she’s become: “I was shy and scared of others’ opinions in middle school. Now, though, I’ve learned to go for what I want and not hold back.” Taylor has lots of advice for the underclassmen as they work towards graduation.

Outside of school, Taylor likes to unwind by spending time downtown with friends or relaxing at home with a book and music. After graduation, she’s most excited to travel and celebrate before college begins. Overall, Taylor says that high school has been full of friendship, sports, and the discovery of herself as she grows, where she’s excited to reflect on everything she’s learned for the next step of her life.
