Senior Snapshot: Rocco Vigneri

Rocci Vigneri transferred to BT two years ago to start his Junior year with a new chapter. This transfer was a major turning point in school, sports, and future goals, but he has made a positive impact throughout his short time so far. “What I love most about BT is the freedom it’s given me to do things outside of campus,” he said.

BT’s independence has allowed Rocco to balance his passions for basketball, baseball, and journalism while also pursuing his career dreams of becoming a pilot once he graduates. Rocco’s favorite memory from his time at BT came during a summer baseball run, when his team went on an eight-game winning streak: “Everything felt so free during those games. It was just fun.”

That is what Rocco said when reflecting on what comes next now that he’s a senior. So far, Rocco has applied to the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Lewis University, Delta State, Henderson State, the University of North Dakota, and Quincy University. He plans on majoring in commercial aviation and one day working for a major airline.

Reflecting on his classes, Rocco names U.S. History with Ms. Straka as a standout. “It was super easy, and we had really good debates.” Rocco appreciates the freedom he was awarded during this class and many more at BT. While he has loved his short time on campus, he looks forward to making his senior year the best one so far

When he’s not playing sports or working towards his pilot’s license, Rocco loves to hang out with his friends, where he enjoys watching sports or just talking for hours. When asked about his biggest role model, Rocco credits his dad: “He’s allowed me to pursue what I want to do instead of following the same path as everyone else.”

Rocco with his younger sister, Addi Vigneris allowed me to pursue what I want to do instead of following the same path as everyone else.”

Rocco has learned a lot throughout high school, but he says the best advice to give is to avoid procrastination when you can: “Take more classes in your first years so that when you’re an upperclassman, you have more freedom and can start focusing on your future.”

Since junior year, Rocco has been working towards earning his pilot’s license, something he hopes to accomplish in the near future. Not only is pursuing an aviation career a major focus of his, but focusing on his license has also allowed him to stay busy during his final year of high school: “It’s been a big focus of mine.” When reflecting on his high school years, Rocco appreciates the growth he’s experienced both at his old school and here in the BT community.
