To bring back a comforting journalism tradition from the class of 2025, three seniors sought to try a Dundee Favorite: The Mill. Located in Leavenworth, this cafe exudes a midtown glam, offering an environment perfect for sipping cappuccinos or opening a Robert Frost poetry collection.

Violet:
After hearing from several classmates that The Mill was worth checking out, I decided it was finally time to check out this coffee shop. And let me tell you, The Mill certainly exceeded my expectations. The moment I walked in the door, I was met with a homey aroma of coffee, greenery in every corner, and a spacious room—the perfect place for sipping coffee, catching up with a friend, or simply enjoying the moment. I decided to order a cinnamon roll and an iced matcha with oatmilk. Although they both tasted amazing, the cinnamon roll had to have been my favorite; the dough was soft, the frosting was sweetened to perfection, and I could definitely eat more than one. I truly recommend this cafe to anyone! Between the environment and the coffee, this place will certainly become a new favorite for my classmates and me.
Corinne:
The aroma of coffee beans sweeps you off your feet the instant you swing the doors open to enter The Mill. Located adjacent to 31st and Leavenworth, The Mill provides a serene yet sublime ambiance for those who choose to read, or prevail to the ends of their work. In the thicket of winter, Violet, TG, and I ventured not-so-far off campus to experience a favorable coffee spot, popular among locals in Central Omaha, to indulge in a morning escape from the cold. I ordered a hot caramel latte, its sweetness perfectly balanced with the rich bitterness of freshly brewed espresso, warming my hands and my heart with each sip I took. Alongside it came a crumb cake, served warm and fresh, with a buttery cinnamon crumble that practically melted the moment my fork touched it. The comfort of the food matched the atmosphere of the cafe itself, cozy, inviting, and unhurried. As steam rose from our mugs and quiet conversation filled the room, The Mill felt less like a coffee shop and more like a refuge from the cold winter air.
TG:
I go here a decent amount to do work. It tends to be quiet but warm, and overall, a great place to study. I’ve heard that their coffee is great, but I go for the tea. The Mill offers a wide selection of both unique and common tea blends, where you pick the jar right off the wall and hand it to the barista when you order. There’s really no shortage of options. This time, I got a fig tea latte (with all hot teas, you have the option to have it regular or as a latte), which ended up being really strong and aromatic. It wasn’t my favorite. I felt like it had been steeped too long, but I didn’t really have time to remove the tea bag when I had wanted to. I think this just wasn’t a blend I liked. I’ve had a London Fog and an apricot tea late before, both of which I really enjoyed and recommend.
