At the start of this month, the 68th Annual Grammy Awards covered the best artists, compositions, and recordings of 2024 and 2025, awarding prestigious awards like Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best New Artist. The contest was fierce this year, with top-charting artists like Bad Bunny, Tyler, the Creator, Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, and Billie Eilish all nominated and competing against each other. Here is the rundown:
There were 29 performers throughout the entire night, nine during the Premiere Show and 20 during the main ceremony. All Best New Artist nominees performed in a two-minute medley, whereas some of the other performances ranged from 3-6 minutes. Here’s my ranking of all of them, from best to worst:
Tyler, the Creator: “Thought I Was Dead,” “Like Him”, & “Sugar On My Tongue”
Lady Gaga: “Abracadabra”
Sabrina Carpenter: “Manchild”
Bruno Mars & ROSÉ: “APT.”
Justin Bieber: “YUKON”
Leon Thomas: “MUTT”
Zara Larsson: “Midnight Sun”
Olivia Dean: “Man I Need”
Ms. Lauryn Hill & Guests: Medley of D’Angelo and Roberta Flack songs
This is senior Angela Hensley’s fourth year as a student at Brownell Talbot, as well as a Staff Writer for Verbatim. When Angela is not filming a video for the Angelic Analysis, her hobbies include playing volleyball, running track, lifting, drumming, skating, and crocheting. Her love for writing and videography is what brought her to Verbatim, and she hopes that she can share her love for journaling with all of the students at BT, as well as inspire others to join Verbatim and express themselves through the art of writing.
