This October, we interviewed renowned Nebraska State Poet, Jewel Rodgers. Our conversation begins with the effects of the government shutdown on the humanities, noting that funding is not flowing; therefore, bills cannot be paid. Although we were supposed to discuss Poetry in Parks in the Everglades, the national park had furloughed workers, so the event did not go through. Instead, we focused on her life outside of poetry, preparations for performances, motivations to keep her authentic voice, and several aspects of what it means to be the Nebraska State Poet.
Tune in this month for a glimpse into the untouchable art of poetry, followed by some easy laughs in Career Corner!
