On Monday, February 23, we had the pleasure of watching Stuck on Dodge perform at the Waiting Room in Benson. Featuring Verbatim staff writer Angela Hensley and BT students Avery Nichols and Owen Ohnoutka, the group delivered a tight 40-minute set featuring ten songs. Some were originals, while others were of the garage rock genre by artists such as Starcrawler, showcasing the band’s versatility and passion. Other bands covered include Black Pistol Fire and The Cure.
The group had more than a dozen BT students and faculty in attendance to support their hard work and commitment to their craft. Other local fans came to the venue to watch as well, drawn by the buzz surrounding the band and the promise of a lively performance. We loved the performance and found the venue choice fitting for the genres showcased. Hensley’s drumming and Nichols’ bass playing held the band together extremely well, while Ohnoutka’s guitar textures added a nice shimmer on top of a solid foundation. Nichols’ vocals were extremely consistent and highlighted throughout the set. The dedication the band put into their set was evident from the first note.

Stuck on Dodge has been performing since July 2025, and has grown a dedicated following. Starting their journey playing bars in rural Nebraska and eventually growing to well-respected Omaha venues such as the Brokedown Palace and the Reverb Lounge, it turns out corn isn’t the only thing that grows in Nebraska: the band has grown from a kernel to a full bag of popcorn.
The band also won the junior division of the Omaha Mobile Stage “Battle of the Bands,” where they will again perform at the Reverb Lounge.
We are excited to continue following their journey as they continue to make originals, instill excitement in crowds, and make a name for themselves in the metro area and beyond!
